Summer Kicks Off with Disneyland Cars Land Opening

Summer officially kicked off last week with a trip for Northern California to sunny SoCal, specifically the Happiest Place on Earth. We had the opportunity to attend the star studded opening celebration of Disneyland’s CarsLand and Grand Re-opening of California Adventure. It was simply Ah-Mazing! Disney knows how to throw a shindig and this one did not disappoint. There were plenty of stars on hand including Country star Brad Paisley, sexy Andy Garcia to Rico Rodrigues from Modern Family.

Andy Garcia Up Close!

Manny

How cute is he!

Mexican National Team soccer legend Jorge Campos (love him!) was there as well. Disney show stars, like Vincent Martella of Phineas and Ferb fame and Ginnifer Goodwin were there to check out the rides Gotta admit, I didn’t know ANY of the Disney actors real names – just their character names or worse their show. This is WHY I need to bring my kids with me on these press events. My 9YO would have known EVERY tween actress there!

While they were all lovely to meet, the real stars were the folks at Disney who brought it all together – Disney CEO Robert Iger and Pixar’s John Lasseter were on hand charming the press corps with stories of what inspired it all and their grand vision to help us all step right into the town of Radiator Springs. Mission Accomplished!

Glennia, Beth, Ana, Akemi and I waited in line to be amongst the first to ride the Radiator Springs roller coaster. (It was definitely well worth the wait.) We saw John Lassiter boarding one of the cars with his wife and other VIPS. I couldn’t help but wonder about how surreal it must be for him and his crew to be physically IN the world they animated.  Must be pretty awesome, and strange. Kudos to Disney and Pixar for hittin it outta the park. Lassiter mentioned how the filme was inspired by a family road trip he took on Route 66. Down to the littlest details, CarsLand was exactly how I remembered the movies to be. (And I’ve watched the movies a bajillion times with the kids)

The family and I took Highway 5 down to Anaheim looking for some relaxation and inspiration ourselves. We sure are glad we did!
